About FCCM

About us

The Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham (FCCM) is a not‑for‑profit, volunteer‑led community organization dedicated to serving Chinese Canadians and enhancing cultural integration within Canadian society. Established in 1989 and formally incorporated in 1992, FCCM’s core mission is to support, unite, and empower Chinese Canadians while promoting cultural understanding across diverse communities.

FCCM works to foster connection, cultural pride, and social participation for people from all walks of life. Through community programs, cultural celebrations, educational activities, and recreational services, FCCM strengthens social bonds and celebrates the contributions of Chinese Canadians to the broader Canadian mosaic.

What We Do

FCCM provides a wide range of programs and services designed to build community, support wellbeing, and preserve cultural heritage:

Community & Cultural Programs
Hosts major cultural festivals and celebrations, such as the annual Taste of Asia Festival, Chinese New Year events, Mid‑Autumn Lantern Festival, and more—bringing people together through food, performances, and traditions.
Organizes community celebrations and cultural showcases that promote diversity and cross‑cultural appreciation.

Social & Recreational Services
Supports the Markham Chinese Seniors Association, offering social, recreational, and educational activities for seniors to foster friendships and community engagement.
Runs sports, recreation, and youth programs through the Chinese Canadian Sports and Recreation Club of Markham, including events like badminton, basketball, and annual picnics.

Business & Networking
Through the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Markham, FCCM helps local business owners connect, access information, and attend seminars and networking opportunities to support economic involvement.

Education & Cultural Learning
Offers cultural classes and interest courses that promote Chinese heritage, arts, languages, and traditional practices for all age groups.

Together, these initiatives help FCCM support cultural preservation, encourage community participation, and build bridges between Chinese Canadians and the wider community.
