Master Jian Hanxin is the current president of the Canadian Chinese Martial Arts Association Center in Markham in 1997. In 2004, he represented Canada in the first International Multi-Martial Arts Games held in North Korea and won the silver medal in men’s Tai Chi.

簡翰炘师傅是位于万锦市的加拿大中华武术协会中心现任会长。1997年,他代表加拿大参加了在朝鲜举行的首届国际综合武术运动会,并获得男子太极拳项目的银牌。

Course introduction

Tai Chi is a superior martial art that was popular in Chenjiagou, Huaiqing, Henan. However, it has always been limited to people with the surname Chen, so it is generally called Chen Tai Chi. Later, Yang Luchan was accepted as a disciple by boxer Chen Changxing. He learned the true teachings. Yang was determined to promote Tai Chi. He went to Beijing to develop because Beijing was the gathering place of famous martial arts masters. He defeated a famous master in a test and was appreciated by the prince of the Qing Dynasty. He was hired to teach the royal family and nobles. Yang believed that the Manchus were foreigners, so he deleted the lethal moves from Tai Chi. Tai Chi was repeatedly modified and improved by three generations of Yang family, father and son, and was finally passed down to his grandson Yang Chengfu, who established the Yang family Tai Chi style. The movements of Yang family Tai Chi are relatively large, and the fists are stretched and generous, and they are mainly used to stimulate people. Practicing Tai Chi can relax the nerves, promote blood circulation, and accelerate cell metabolism, which is good for the body and prevents diseases.

太极拳是一门上乘的武术,起源于河南怀庆府陈家沟。然而,这门拳术长期以来仅在陈姓族人中传承,故世称陈氏太极拳。后由拳师陈长兴打破门规,收外姓人杨露禅为徒。杨露禅得窥堂奥,尽得真传。他立志将太极拳发扬光大,遂前往名家云集的首善之区——北京发展。在与众多名家的切磋中,杨露禅技高一筹,深得清廷某位亲王的赏识,被延请至府中教授皇室贵族拳艺。杨露禅认为满洲贵族作为异族,不谙此道,因此在传授时删去了原拳法中杀伤力极强的招式。此后,历经杨氏祖孙三代人的不断修订与完善,至其孙杨澄甫时,终于定型并确立了如今广为流传的杨氏太极拳。杨氏太极拳的动作舒展大方,拳架开展宽宏,以引导激发人体内在潜能为要义。经常练习太极拳能松弛神经,促进血液循环,加速细胞新陈代谢,从而达到强身健体、防病祛病之功效。
